UNITED TROPHY CELEBRATES THE CHILDREN WITH PLATINUM PARTNERSHIP
If there were a trophy awarded for faithful corporate support, United Trophy would be both the supplier and recipient.
That’s because for decades, United Trophy has been at the top of the list of major supporters of BGCCF’s signature gala event, Celebrate the Children. The company, owned by Syd Levy, has signed on as a Platinum Partner for CTC again in 2017.
Syd, together with his beloved late wife, Marianne, opened United Trophy Mfg. in downtown Orlando in 1968. From their Orange Avenue headquarters, the Levys witnessed a lot of children and teens from distressed neighborhoods whose behavior reflected a lack of supervision and guidance.
“But the kids that I saw at the Clubs weren’t like that,” says Syd. “The Clubs help these kids make something of themselves. They’re so sharp! Now, when I see the children talk to groups of adults at events, I think ‘Wow! I couldn’t get up and talk the way they do!’”
Over the years, United Trophy Mfg. has grown into one of the nation’s largest awards companies, but the Levys’ commitment to their local Boys & Girls Clubs never wavered. In fact, he and Marianne provided the funding for the building at Colonial and Magnolia that serves as the BGCCF headquarters, and that bears their name.
“The staff really cares,“ he says. “They take their responsibility of helping these kids very seriously, and are good stewards of how donations are spent. I’ve seen the results first-hand.”
Celebrate the Children 2017 will take place on April 28 at the Orlando World Center Marriott. The gala dinner and auction is BGCCF’s premier annual fundraising event with fine dining, live and silent auctions, and live entertainment.
