Day of Action Focuses on Literacy
Volunteers from all over Central Florida visited local Clubs on Tuesday for Heart of Florida United Way’s Day of Action. Groups hosted fun, literacy-focused activities that encouraged youth to focus on reading and writing. The Orlando Magic hosted a spelling-bee-style basketball tournament and read-a-thon at our Joe R. Lee Branch and friends from Target led a trivia game with the youth at our Poinciana Teen Center.
More than 11,000 books were donated for our Club members to take home. Thank you to Heart of Florida United Way, Volunteer UCF, Westminster Retirement Community, PepsiCo, Bank of America, Orlando Magic, Target and all of the individuals who made Day of Action such a success for our organization.
