Dueling Dragons

The Dueling Dragons of Orlando Dragon Boating Program is an unlikely partnership between at-risk teens, officers from the Orlando Police Department and firefighters from the Orlando Fire Department, who have joined forces to become a one-of-a-kind, competitive year-round racing team. Together, the officers and children form two teams, the Dueling Dragons of Orlando and the Orlando Fire Dragons, to participate as volunteers, learning teamwork and trust through the ancient sport of Dragon Boating.  In the process, stereotypes come down, profiles melt away and lives change for the better.

Dueling Dragons is managed for BGCCF by Officer Marty McClain, recently retired from the Orlando Police Department. Both teams practice at Lake Fairview and compete in local and regional competitions.

Practice like you’ve never won. Race like you’ve never lost!
